Slow-witted Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks) has never thought of himself as disadvantaged, and thanks to his supportive mother (Sally Field), he leads anything but a restricted life. Whether dominating on the gridiron as a college football star, fighting in Vietnam or captaining a shrimp boat, Forrest inspires people with his childlike optimism. But one person Forrest cares about most may be the most difficult to save — his childhood love, the sweet but troubled Jenny (Robin Wright).

Our JUBILEE SERIES celebrates the experience of movie-watching in theaters, with a series of films that have anniversaries in 2024! For a hundred years, film fanatics, cinefiles and general movie-goers alike have come in droves to see motion pictures on the sliver screen – settling down into comfy seats in the darkened auditorium of their favorite movie palace, with their popcorn and Mike-n-Ike’s, to be transported to lands of wonder and moments of great fervor. In recent years, the convenience of streaming at home has shifted the way that we view films, but deep down we still hold onto the feeling we got sitting in the theater.
2024 boasts a plethora of major anniversaries for films that many hold near and dear to their hearts. Over the next several months, the Strand will be offering you the chance to see your nostalgic favorites in the way you did when you first fell in love with them – in a classic theater! We’ll be showing top pick films that are celebrating their 10th, 20th, 30th, 40th anniversaries and beyond, from Indiana Jones to The Wizard of Oz. We hope to see you there!
