Welcome to the Strand Theatre’s second century. We’re leaning into our vibrant historic past, while nurturing a vital community in the arts. The Strand is your window to the world of independent, documentary and repertory cinema, your night at the opera, your gallery pass, your concert ticket, your chance to experience it all – 311 days a year, from Rockland, Maine.  Your financial commitment to the Strand allows us to keep arts and culture center stage.

I’m new to the Executive Director role, and the last five months have been an experience unlike any other. I’ve been lucky enough to experience the Strand like so many of you: finding my favorite seat for every event, hearing a fresh perspective at a film introduction, being swept up by the grandeur of the opera, and by the intimacy of live music. And maybe I’ve scanned your ticket to a concert, served you popcorn, or debriefed after a film. What I can tell you unequivocally is that it all matters: every moment spent working for the arts comes back 100-fold in the shared experience of the culture we’re building together as community members, patrons, artists, and supporters.

Your financial gift to the Strand supports the work we do, including the cost to put films on screen; our commitment to fair pay for artists; our incredible education program that serves 4000+ students annually; the stewardship of our hundred-year old building; new technology for stage and screen; our talented staff; and yes, our light bill. All of those things add up to the incredible Strand experience you and I share.
