Artist Bio
Ants on a Log is a Philadelphia-based trio: elementary science teacher Anya Rose and music therapists Julie Be and Miles Crabtree. Blending their skills has enabled the trio to reach beyond the usual scope of simple songs for children, tackling complex themes and embracing the full potential of a child’s ability to think and feel.

Known for skillfully weaving together social justice and silliness, the Ants have produced four albums, two musicals, and numerous singles, music videos, and educational resources. The “Trans & Nonbinary Kids Mix” won national acclaim as a landmark album in the world of intersectional kids media, featuring “They’re My Best Friend,” which became the first song on national radio to feature all nonbinary pronouns. Their musical “Curious: Think Outside the Pipeline!” won a Parent’s Choice Award for the 2019 soundtrack, and is viewable as a musical movie, as well as a script for schools to perform. The Ants have created companion content for several songs, including an anti-racism discussion guide and a skills worksheet for coping with anxiety and intrusive thoughts.

About the SUNSHINE SERIES 2024
Our new SUNSHINE SERIES presents outdoor performances for kids and families, taking place at the beautiful Safe Harbor Gazebo at 60 Ocean St in Rockland on select Thursday mornings and one super Sunday afternoon! Featuring a stellar line-up of circus acts, puppet shows, musical guests, and cultural activities, this new series is open to all ages and admission is Pay-What-You-Can ($0-20).  Each performance is 50-60 minutes long, and appropriate for all ages. Seating is on the concrete floor of the gazebo, so blankets and chairs are welcome. Attendees may use the restroom facilities at the Rockland Harbor YMCA. In case of inclement weather, the performance will take place indoors at the Strand Theatre. Please check our website and social media the day of the event for weather updates.

The SUNSHINE SERIES is co-produced by the Coastal Children’s Museum, presented by J. Edward Knight Insurance, and sponsored by OUT Maine, Safe Harbor, the Rockland Harbor YMCA, and Rockland Rotary.
